Friday January 14 Picks

Friday January 14

Race 4 1) Whatnblazes - gets Tetrick back which is a plus after a strong effort with him two back. Qualifier isn't a stand out but his last race was of higher class out of the 7 hole at Yonkers, no easy task. Moves into the rail here and like his chances in a race with the seeming favorite, Swan Image, being off since October!

3) Swan Image - Hard not to like this veteran. Has done very will with the Buckeye in the past and returns to The Big M where he's had much success. Only question mark is not having raced since October and itw as a pretty poor effort. Only 11 starts last year. Definitely beatable but hard to ignore.

10) Berto Keven - Awfully consistent late November into December, but at a slightly lower class. That scratched lame is a concern but the qualifier looks pretty solid. From the 10 hole, Andy will have to get him involved early or he's in for a long night. If healthy, definitely has a great shot to hit the ticket.

PLAY $10 Exacta Key Box 1 with 3/10 = $40

Race 6 4) In Focus - Off since August, but it's hard to ignore this champion especially after a solid 1:54.2 qualifer. Certainly has faced significantly better foes and if primed and ready should win this one.

5) Whybabywhwy - Coming out of a 50K claimer and NW25000 with 5 strong efforts in a row. Could argue a little bit of a tailing off after being good for so long, but this is a drop. Shows lots of speed and doesn't seem to be a whole lot of that to the inside of her. If the 4 isn't on his game, this one can definitely pick up the pieces.

6) All About Justice - Look out late if the pace is hot. Just missed in last and finished a strong 3rd two back in slightly higher company. Only 2 for 18 last year, so maybe keep underneath?

9) Salutation Hanover - Hard to look past a Sears and Burke connection. From the same spot in last in a higher class came home to finish 3rd. Did OK in the Harrah Blv with one win, and Pref HCP before that at the Meadows. Only problem could be the post. Willing to throw in on the class drop and Sears!

PLAY $5 TRI 5/9 with 4/5/9 with 4/5/6/9 = $40

Race 9 ***WIDE OPEN***

1) Natalie - Off since October with an avg qualifier. If I recall she was in the top classes last year at Yonkers. The rail is a huge advantage and if ready she can win.

5) Gerries Madison - Drops, and suspiciously loses Tetrick. On the plus, the Hall of Famer John Campbell picks up the drive. The two on the 3 and 10 of Dec look great, but may have tailed off since?

6) Ridge Jumper - Always liked this horse, especially after winning nicely two back for a soild exacta with Mcflirty. Drops a bit but gets 5th new driver in 5 starts. Hm? Can Perfect Pierce Piloting find the wire first? It's Possible!

8) Mcflirty - Immediately gets a second glance because she was Tetrick's pick. Stays in the same class after just missing in last to rival Ridge Jumper. Similar outside post and with a decent pace she could be found late!

10) Artimittateslife - Another I've always liked. Second off qualifier and slammed with post 10 again! Drops from Opens, and high NW's to NW$10,275. Doesn't show a lot of good finishes but remember, the classes were much higher! Was FLYING late in last and despite the 10 hole, with a good flow and quick pace, she will be heard from late!

PLAY $.20 Super 1/5/6/8/10 Box = $24

Total plays = $104

Other notes.

Race 1
1) Morguns Sweetheart - Has been in higher conditions and in Opens at Freehold as of late. Different ball game at M1 but it's possible.

4) Halfpipe - Stays on stride certainly has a good shot but who knows if he will!

Race 7
3) Linden Beauty - Had a strong stretch of solid finishes last year at M1. Might be a bit to high, but worth it at a price?

6) Semjac Legacy - Strong easy win in last if I recall? Don't have the program in front of me. If correct, with Tetrick, can't ignore.

1) China Gal - I dont' know why, but she's ringin' a bell??? Worth a flyer at big odds!?

Race 8
3) Sauce Two K - Has bit me in the butt in the past so I, personally, can't ignore. Seems to do well when you don't expect him to. Is this that spot...

5) Definitely Mamie - Another Sears, Burke connection. Tough loss to a horse that LOVES the Meadowlands, Soapy Sap, in last. Also connected becuase my brother called me Mamie when we were very young!!!

9) Beach Nut Brand - If this were Yonkers, I'd bet him...but it's not and I'm not sure how well he's done on the mile track? I believe his last race wasn't bad though? Use underneath...?

Race 10
Pretty wide open if you ask me. With Cuz She Can and Tetrick getting the rail and being 6-1 morning line a few exactas could certainly be nice! Always liked Western Graduate, but is the Mares Invitational at M1 too high? It may be. 6 hole gives her options. Another no brainer...if we were betting Yonkers...Hard to ignore favorites though, might be a good race to pass?

Race 11
2) Dink Adoo - How can you not like this veteran! One of those you have to bet just because he's been around so long! Good thing he has a great shot to win too!

8) Ain' Shes Titan - Loses Dave Miller but gets Campbell. 8 hole might be too much as well as class. Not sure what her last was, but I do recall a win not to long ago in an easy exacta...that I missed. Recall a stretch battle too...gotta like that right?

Race 12
3) Haverford Hanover - A few years back I'd never thought he'd be in this low, but he is. Does that tell us something. Of course, he could walk over these...or he's tailed off significantly and his best days are behind him!

5) Segundo Hanover - Dont ever recall this one winning at good betting odds. With that said, follow the tote board! Did rattle off a winning streak a few years back. Don't remember the class though. Mid pack post so he has options. Certainly a possibility.

7) Kings Road - Always followed this one. Won a big odds recently, then came back with some strong efforts. If the 3 or 5 are on the top of their game I see it hard for the Road to make an impact, but if not...

10) Third Day - Believe he was in the upper classes out at the Meadows and was winning from time to time. 10 hole makes things difficult, but if the you compare just the classes he may have the edge. Only thing is is the Pref and winners over at the Meadows that good? Wish I knew...

Follow what I say, don't follow what I say. Love me hate me...I don't care, but good luck to all tonight in betting for real and in the survival challenge! I'll check back later on!
